Brooklands museum visit for resident at local care homes 90th birthday

So set to work to prove the old adage, it’s never too late. Ron has lived at Barchester’s Wykeham House, in Horley for 2 years and is loved by the staff and residents alike. The team at the home were delighted to be a part of making this trip a special day to remember, as they knew how much it meant to him.

They all wanted to see the smile on Ron’s face when he got to see some of the old cars he has watched over the years while following his love of motor racing Staff first found out about Ron’s interest in cars as part of his Getting To Know Me sessions and ever since then they have been dedicated in helping him maintain his interest in his hobby.

Including a trip to a classic car show in October 2023 and regularly spending time going through Ron’s car magazines. In response to this wonderful surprise, Ron, said: “I had a lovely day and a lovely trip. I enjoyed looking at the cars and picking out my favourites.”

Ron spent time with Rachel from the Life Enrichment team at Wykeham House and they learnt about the drivers from the F1 and were amazed to see part of the old F1 track at Brooklands.
