Better leisure centres across Surrey will be offering local residents a range of free taster gym, fitness and swim sessions on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November 2024. Day passes for the annual Open Weekend can be booked from 21 November by visiting http://www.better.org.uk/open-weekend

Better’s Open Weekend initiative encourages residents of all ages to try a range of activities at their local leisure and sports centres. Different venues will be offering different activities, but everything on offer will either be free of charge or greatly reduced.

The participating venues are Horley Leisure Centre, Leatherhead Leisure Centre, Rainbow Leisure Centre and Tadworth Leisure & Community Centre in Epsom, Dorking Sports Centre and Donyngs Leisure Centre in Redhill.

Open Weekend activities at Horley Leisure Centre include free Zumba, Legs, Bums & Tums and Fitness Rebounder classes. Kids’ taster swimming lessons will also be on offer from 2-4pm. These can be booked using the code Horley5.

Horley Leisure Centre will also be running a Christmas Market over the same weekend, after proving extremely popular last year. Over fifty local businesses will be running stalls, including Ditch Brisket, Simply Crumble, Next Phase Coffee, Henius Apparel, Buttercupbakers, Icon Creations and Smallfield Flower Farm.

In addition, local community groups such as Horley Men’s Shed and Horley Food Bank will be attending. Kids will be kept entertained with a craft table and face painting – and there will also be live music from local singers.

James Brackenborough, GLL Partnership Manager, says: “As a social enterprise, Better believes in giving back to the community and our Open Weekends are a great way for us to do this.

“They are always extremely well attended and fantastic fun, so we urge as many people as possible to come along and see what’s on offer.”
