A new chapter for Lightwater’s little learners
Families in Lightwater and the surrounding areas will soon have an exciting new early years setting on their doorsteps as Monkey Puzzle Lightwater prepares to open its doors this May. Located on Guildford Road, the nursery will provide a high-quality education experience in the heart of the village, with a strong focus on outdoor learning and community engagement.
At the helm is nursery manager Scott Humphrey, who has nearly 20 years of early years experience under his belt. Scott worked his way up from an apprentice to managing multiple nurseries rated ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted – and he couldn’t be more excited to bring his passion and expertise to Lightwater.

We want every child who walks through our doors to feel like they belong.”

One of Scott’s biggest priorities is ensuring Monkey Puzzle Lightwater becomes a true part of the local community. Having lived in the area himself, he understands how important it is for families to feel connected.
With a track record of making nurseries a hub of the neighbourhood, Scott is keen to bring the same energy to Lightwater, “A nursery should be more than just a place children go each day – it should be part of the fabric of the village.”
“We’ve already built some fantastic relationships with local cafes, the church and even the dentist! It’s all about making families feel at home and giving children a real sense of belonging. We’re really proud of the management team we’ve built too – I’m lucky to be supported by Becca and Sean, who will be heavily involved in the daily operations of the nursery, and bring so much experience and expertise.”

Outdoor learning helps children develop confidence, resilience and curiosity – I can’t wait to bring that to our nursery!”

The Lightwater nursery is part of Monkey Puzzle Day Nurseries, a well-established national nursery group with over 70 settings across the UK. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality early years education, Monkey Puzzle nurseries are designed to provide the very best start in life for the children, and the new Lightwater setting will be no exception.
“Right now, our focus is on getting everything just right for the children,” says Scott. “This isn’t just another nursery – it’s a place where children will take their first steps in learning, make their first friends and build the confidence to take on the world – I really believe in the motto ‘the future blooms from the seeds you plant.’ Now, we just can’t wait to welcome everyone!”
