International football in Roffey
and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
On Sunday 27th April an International of sorts was played at Roffey FC. Teams and territories not recognised by FIFA and UEFA play in friendlies throughout the summer. Other teams in the mix are the Chagos Islands, Maghreb, Athenians and Equinoccial.
The game kicked off with both teams playing it around, feeling each other out. Former Hassocks player, Jordan Brown, well known to the SCFL started in goal. The Japanese team had a few long distance shots, but were unable to get any of them on target.

Hide AdSurrey took the lead on the 28th minute. The referee, Lewis Gordon gave a free kick on the left which was struck at goal. The goalkeeper, Yota, spilled the ball and it fell to the lively Surrey striker, Hayden Andrew to smash it in.

The Japanese did their best to get back into the game but Surrey were too strong. In the second half they should have doubled their lead but the keeper pulled off a great save.
It ended 1-0 in a well organised and competitive match. Next Sunday, International Surrey are taking on a London Thai team at 3pm in Roffey.
