Surrey student takes on marathon challenge to make a difference for local charity
Harvey Alfred, 21, from Redhill, is running the world famous 26.2-mile route next April to raise money for Surrey based charity, Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People (QEF). The charity supports disabled people of all ages and those with acquired neurological disabilities to achieve their potential and be as independent as possible. The charity’s services currently support almost 10,000 disabled children and adults annually, including its Care and Rehabilitation Centre in the heart of Surrey which is a modern and comfortable centre of neuro rehabilitation expertise.
Harvey said: “I believe in creating a more inclusive world where everyone, regardless of ability, can thrive in any aspect of life. Disabilities come in many forms, with independence being one of my most valued aspects of life so by raising funds and awareness for QEF, I can hopefully make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals who face these unique challenges every day. “Running this marathon is not only a personal challenge for me, being my first marathon attempt, but also an opportunity to give back to society and highlight the importance of accessibility, independence and empowerment for people with disabilities.”
