Wraysbury Explorers tackling new adventures and developing skills
1st Wraysbury Explorers are giving young people the opportunity to develop Skills for Life with new adventures and empowering challenges! "Where else can you rock climb, kayak and camp, whilst sharing your love of the outdoors with likeminded teenagers?”, Explorer Leader Laura shares, “plus it gives you so many skills to write about on your CV, or use in interviews".
Led by volunteers, the group have taken part in a wide variety of activities since opening in September 2023 including: Mountain Biking Camp, Parkour Pioneering & a Gang show with video creation.
Scouts offer over 200 activities from abseiling and coding to drama and water-zorbing. This means that young people have a safe space for their own personal growth and for finding new passions. The Scouts actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. Not only have these Explorers had the opportunity to try new activities; with 1st Wraysbury, young people have also developed a wide range of Skills for Life such as leadership, the courage to try new things and kindness through welcoming new members and supporting each other. In a recent poll 94% of Scouts said they have developed useful skills.
Meeting in Wraysbury, every other Wednesday evening, these Explorers (all genders aged 14-17) will be challenging themselves with their summer plans! Why not join them for their upcoming adventures of Kayaking, Survival Camp, Sailing and the National live Monopoly competition? There’s even an International Skiing Camp on the horizon for 2025. Explorer Daniel says, "I really enjoy trying new activities each week as it gives me the chance to build new skills, while also making new friends and catching up with old ones."
