It’s a space where they can openly discuss stress, worry, grief, relationships, loneliness, or anything weighing them down without judgment or pressure.
Some men come ready to speak; others come simply to sit and listen until they feel comfortable. What matters most is that every man who walks through the door is met with understanding, patience, and genuine care. For many, just knowing they are not alone becoming the first step toward healing.
Menshare was founded in 2021, shortly after the pandemic, when the need for emotional support became impossible to ignore. Isolation, uncertainty, and the loss of normal routines left many men struggling in silence. Traditional expectations to stay strong, hide emotions, and cope alone made it even harder for them to reach out.
The group was founded by Sean Orr, who witnessed first hand the suffering and silence many men were experiencing. He said: “Hearing and seeing men struggle and having no place to come and talk, I decided to set up the Menshare Listening Group and make a change.
“Menshare became a welcoming, judgment-free space where men could talk openly and feel truly heard.”
Today, Menshare supports men across Crawley, East Grinstead, Horsham, and surrounding areas, and everyone is welcome. There’s no referral needed, and no expectation to speak.
Sean said: “Men come simply because they want connection, understanding, and a safe place to let the mask drop.
“Groups like Menshare are vital today. Many men face anxiety, stress, and loneliness, but feel unable to talk about them. Without support, these feelings can build up to dangerous levels. Menshare provides a crucial alternative, a space where men can be vulnerable without fear, where genuine conversations occur, and where genuine support is offered.”
The group has already made a profound impact. Men have formed friendships, regained confidence, and found hope through these weekly sessions. In some cases, Menshare has done far more than offer comfort, it has saved lives, giving men somewhere to turn when they felt they had no one else.
Menshare isn’t just a group; it’s a lifeline, a community, and a reminder that no man needs to struggle alone.
