'We all pray it has been caught early' - Surrey MPs send best wishes to King Charles after cancer diagnosis

Buckingham Palace last night announced King Charles has been diagnosed with a form of cancer.

The type of cancer has not been revealed however it is not prostate cancer, but was discovered during his recent treatment for an enlarged prostate.

His Majesty began regular treatments this week and the Palace has said he will postpone public duties during it.

People across the world have sent there best wishes to King Charles, including two Surrey MPs.

Jeremy Hunt, MP for South West Surrey, tweeted: “Thinking about His Majesty the King and his family tonight. Cancer is a horrible disease but we all pray it has been caught early enough for him to continue his remarkable life of service to our country.”

Esher and Walton MP Dominic Raab said: “Wishing His Majesty the King a swift recovery. The Royal family are in our thoughts and prayers.

East Surrey MP Claire Coutinho retweeted Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s messaged, which said: “Wishing His Majesty a full and speedy recovery. I have no doubt he’ll be back to full strength in no time and I know the whole country will be wishing him well.”
