Horley man arrested after Reigate collision leaves pedestrian in ‘serious condition’
A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and is currently in custody, police have said.
Surrey Police said the collision occurred just before 5.45pm on Thursday (June 5) on Hornbeam Road between the driver of a silver Mercedes and a pedestrian.

Hide AdThe pedestrian, a man in his 20s, remains in hospital in a serious condition, the force added.


Surrey Police said the driver of the car left the scene following the collision and the vehicle was located by officers the same evening.
Officers attended an address in London on Sunday (June 8), where they arrested a man in connection with the collision.
Detective Inspector Gavin Dublin-Cumberbatch, who is leading the investigation, said: “We understand this was a distressing incident with a significant emergency services presence on Hornbeam Road on the night of the collision.

Hide Ad“Our thoughts are with the family of the injured young man who remains in a serious condition.
"Officers from specialist teams are working around the clock to progress this investigation, which has led to the arrest of a 37-year-old man.
"Through our enquiries, we’ve established the suspect and the pedestrian are known to each other.
“We’re continuing to appeal for any information relating to the collision, as well as the movements of a silver Mercedes in the time shortly before or after the collision.”
