Murder in Epsom: Man due in court charged as family release picture of victim

The family of Jason Lucas have today (February 13) released a photo of him after he died on Wednesday, February 7, Surrey Police have reported.

Officers were called to a flat on Eleanor Avenue in Epsom just after 9pm on February 7.

Surrey Police said Jason, 47, was located unresponsive at the address and could not be revived despite the best efforts of attending paramedics. Jason’s family are being supported by specialist officers, police added.

Surrey Police said Darren Hanson, 44, of Eleanor Avenue in Epsom, was charged with murder and remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Guildford Crown Court today, police added.

Senior Investigating Officer DCI Craig Emmerson said: “I would like to express my sincere condolences to Jason’s family during this extremely sad time.

“We will continue our enquiries to establish the full facts and I ask anyone who knows anything or has any information that may be relevant to come forward.”

Jason’s death has now been referred to the Coroner.
