Surrey Police officer found not guilty of rape
A Surrey Police officer has been found not guilty after being charged with a range of sexual offences.
Appearing at Guildford Crown Court on May 9, Jamie Howlett, 34, formerly of Horley, had been charged with five counts of rape, one charge of controlling and coercive behaviour, one charge of sexual assault by touching, one charge of sexual assault by penetration and one charge of assault causing actual bodily harm, a police spokesperson said.
The police investigation started in May 2021 and was led by the Sexual Offences Investigation Team. The trial lasted five days and Howlett was found not guilty on all charges.
