Witness appeal launched after fatal collision on A24 in Capel

Surrey Police officers have launched an appeal for witness after a fatal car crash on the A24 in Capel earlier today (January 14).

Officers were called to the scene just after 7am this morning, a following reports of a two vehicle collision between Kingsfold and Clark’s Green.

Fire, Ambulance and Air Ambulance services all attended but, despite the best efforts of paramedics, one of the drivers – a man in his 60s – was pronounced dead at the scene. Surrey Police say his next of kin have been made aware, and offer their thoughts and condolences at this time.

After the accident, the road was closed in both directions until 3.45pm, in order to allow officers to carry out an initial investigation. The Road has now fully reopened.

"We are now appealing for witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist our investigation, to come forward,” a Surrey Police spokesperson said. “Were you in the area between 6:50am and 7:05am and witnessed the collision, or do you have any CCTV, dash cam or helmet cam footage that might have captured any part of this incident?
