The by-election for the seat left vacant after the death of a Runnymede councillor takes places this month.

The Ottershaw seat had been held by Malcolm Cressey, described by his family as a “pillar” of the community and a “truly wonderful man”, since he was first elected in 2018.

Mr Cressey was known for his ability to connect with people as well as his unwavering dedication to serving others.

As a member of the Ottershaw independents Mr Cressey was an important part of the council as the group worked in a confidence and supply relationship with the previous Conservative administration.
