London Gatwick baggage screening strikes suspended following improved pay offer

Strikes by Gatwick ICTS baggage screeners, which were due to take place over the August bank holiday weekend, have been suspended due to an improved pay offer.

Unite, the UK’s leading union, will be balloting the workers on the new offer over the coming days.

Strike action scheduled from August 22 to August 26 will not take place.

If the offer is rejected, strike action from August 29 to September 2 will go ahead.

Unite regional officer Ben Davis said: “Following an improved offer from ICTS, Unite has suspended strikes in order to ballot its members.”
