Surrey village collision: Motorcyclist seriously hurt

A motorcyclist was left seriously hurt after a collision in a Surrey village.

Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses following the incident in Effingham on Wednesday evening (January 3).

"The collision, involving a motorcycle and a car, took place on the A246 Guildford Road at the junction with Beech Lane in Effingham around 4.35pm,” a police spokesperson said.

The motorcyclist is currently being treated in hospital for ‘serious injuries’, police said.

The spokesperson added: “His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers. A passenger in the car also suffered minor injuries.”

The roads at the crossroads were closed ‘for some time’ after the incident. Motorists were asked to avoid the area while emergency services dealt with this incident.
