Gatwick Airport was named the busiest railway station in Sussex, welcoming 21.2 million passengers – marking an increase from last year’s total of 19.4 million passengers between April 2023 and March 2024.
Gatwick was ranked the sixth-busiest station outside of London, the busiest in the South East, and the busiest airport train station in Britain.

Meanwhile, the flow between Gatwick Airport and London Victoria was the sixth-busiest route in Great Britain between April 2024 to March 2025 with 5.5 million journeys.
Brighton was named the second-busiest railway in Sussex, and the second-busiest in the South East, attracting 15.3 million passengers. Last year, 14.5 million passengers passed through the seaside station.
The most used station in the latest year was London Liverpool Street with an estimated 98 million entries and exits. It was also the most used station in the previous year. This follows the opening of the central section of the Elizabeth line which has led to a large increase in its entries and exits.
Of the stations that were open during the year, Elton and Orston in Nottinghamshire was the least used with 68 entries and exits.
