Crawley Town terrace favourite begins new chapter at Dorking Wanderers

A former Crawley Town goalkeeper – who is still adored by Reds fans – has found a new home at Marc White’s Dorking Wanderers.

It was announced on May 19 that Reds terrace favourite Glenn Morris would be joining Surrey side Dorking Wanderers.

He joins as Dorking’s “new no.1 for the 2026/27 season” after former Wanderers stopper Harrison Foulkes left the club following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.

Morris joins Dorking with a wealth of EFL experience, with the majority of his career spent at Crawley and Gillingham.

The 42-year-old initially signed for Crawley as a player-coach following his departure from the Gills – but he went on to make 269 appearances in between the sticks, picking up four Player of the Season Awards.

Speaking to Dorking’s media about his time in West Sussex, he said: “You couldn’t make it up, it was just one of those. I thought my career was finished really at that point.

“I got released by Gillingham, had the call to go to Crawley as a third choice and a goalie coach, and not in my wildest dreams did I think it would turn out the way it did. It was the best decision I’d probably ever made.”

The move to Meadowbank reunites Morris with Dorking’s goalkeeper coach Dean Lightwood, who he worked with during his time at the Broadfield Stadium.

And Morris admitted his relationship with Lightwood was a big factor in joining Wanderers: “He got the best out of me at Crawley and he knew what I needed.”

‘Cat’, as he is affectionately known, has opened the door to something new, with this being his first encounter with the National League South.

This move adds a fresh experience to his lengthy career, which spanned over 25 years.

He began his career at Leyton Orient in 2001 where he made over 100 appearances, before moving to Southend United in 2010 where he featured on 64 occasions over the course of two seasons.

A switch to Aldershot Town followed before a short spell at Gillingham, who he later re-signed for after six seasons at Crawley.

Morris has always been given a warm welcome whenever he has returned to the Broadfield Stadium, and was always a well-respected and well-liked character around the club.
