International Surrey hit six

International Surrey Football 6-1 London Thai

On Sunday, May 4 a second of the micro nations Internationals was played again at Roffey FC, AKA, the Theatre of Trees. Teams and territories not recognised by FIFA and UEFA play in friendlies throughout the summer. Last weekend International Surrey beat London Japan 1-0, in a hotly contested match.

This game kicked off a little later than last week in cooler temperatures. London Thai started the game well and shocked Surrey with a goal on 7 minutes, a well struck shot which beat former Horsham YMCA keeper, Jordan Brown.

Surrey’s captain, Jordan Brooks rallied the troops and on the 13th minute, Surrey scored an equaliser. The brilliant Reece Nicholas-Davies got the goal after a mazy run and a shot into the bottom corner.

Skipper, Brooks doubled the score with a rocket of a header on the 25th minute. On the 36th minute Hayden Andrew made it 3-1 as he buried the rebound from Ben Kennets saved shot.

It became 4-1 on 61 minutes when the skilful Ben Kennett scored and 5-1 on the 89th minute when the hard-working Shane Johnson poked it in. Not to be outdone, Stanley Johnson scored the last goal of the game after a fantastic performance.

After the match Eddie Nash said (via X), “A resounding 6-1 victory today but thanks to our friends from London Thai for their annual visit. We made heavy weather of it at times. We had four teenagers in the squad today and a lengthy injury list and even more on holiday. Plenty of positives all over the pitch.”

It ended 6-1 in an excellent competitive match. Next Sunday, International Surrey take on the Wanderers at St. Paul’s Sports Club.
