Knight and Spiers, two giants of the Folk Music world, to perform and teach in Guildford

Two of the UK’s most influential folk musicians, Peter Knight, who was part of Steeleye Span’s classic 1970s line-up, and John Spiers, co-founder of multi-award-winning band Bellowhead, will be performing and teaching in Guildford on Saturday 17 February.

This will be the first time Knight and Spiers have performed as a duo in Guildford. They are also offering musicians the only opportunity on their Spring tour to spend an illuminating few hours with them in the afternoon for a workshop on improvisation. Both the workshop and concert will be taking place in the beautiful, historic St Mary’s Church.

What to expect: The pairing of violin and melodeon is not a new one, but in the hands of Knight and Spiers, improvisation and invention meet the listener at every turn. These uniquely gifted musicians make a sublime pairing, and create a live performance to be remembered for a long time.

This event is organised on a not-for-profit basis by Folk Inspiration. Concert proceeds will be donated to Farnham-based arts charity Creative Response.
