Aldershot Bus Driver Honoured for Exceptional Compassion and Responsibility
Stagecoach South is proud to recognise Sonam Lama, a dedicated member of Aldershot team, for his outstanding compassion and quick thinking during an early morning duty that exemplified the company’s commitment to care, responsibility, and community service.
While on duty, Sonam encountered a 94-year-old passenger who appeared confused and vulnerable, unable to recall his home address, family details, or contact information. Recognising the potential risk to the elderly gentleman, Sonam acted promptly and respectfully, ensuring the individual’s safety while contacting company control and the Thames Valley Police to arrange appropriate assistance.
Sonam’s actions went far beyond his routine responsibilities, reflecting both exceptional personal initiative and the highest standards of service. His calm, compassionate approach ensured the wellbeing of a vulnerable member of the public, embodying the values that Stagecoach South strives to uphold in every interaction with the community.
In recognition of his actions, Sonam has also been selected for the company’s internal Star of the Month award scheme, standing out among more than 24,000 employees across the wider group. This internal recognition highlights the significance of his actions and the positive example he sets for colleagues across the business.
