After rehearsing for weeks, the students performed at the Stagecoach National Showcase, bringing together young performers from Stagecoach schools across the UK.
Student Abbie commented:
‘It was great to see all the other schools perform and finally share our piece with full costume, lighting and sound. I loved being on stage and although there were a few nerves, it was great to see all our hard work pay off.’
Student Charlie added:
‘This was my first time performing in a major production that wasn’t in one of our local theatres, and it was a big deal. I've never been involved in anything like this before and am proud to have performed our piece on the West End stage!’
Stagecoach strives to provide students with as many opportunities as possible; from performing in theatres across the nation, to attending agency and stage combat workshops, each student is celebrated for their individuality and uniqueness.
Principal Felicity Corbould-Dawe comments:
‘Taking over twenty of our students to perform at the Shaftesbury Theatre felt incredibly special. I genuinely believe every child should have the chance to stand on an iconic stage, look out into the audience, and feel that they have achieved something amazing. Watching them live that dream is honestly the most rewarding part of what I do.’
With a network of over 60,000 students and more than 3,000 extra-curricular Performing Arts Schools worldwide, Stagecoach aims to make a difference in its students’ lives by teaching Creative Courage for Life and many children have gone on to study and work in Performing Arts from blockbuster films to countless roles in local theatre productions.
