Stanwell charity expecting 22% increase in use of community hub following transformation by Surrey architectural company
Local people are making good use of Stanwell Events’ newly revitalised community hub in the first two months since it opened, following its transformation by Surrey architects, Fluent Architectural Design Services.
Stanwell Events has now been able to bring all its community services, including the foodbank and the community cafe, under one roof.

As well as cooking clubs and youth workshops, the newly renovated facility will offer gardening programmes, after-school clubs and family fun days.
Stanwell Events also now has the space to provide services new to the area, including a mental health support group, Andy’s Man Club, and Paws for Thought dog therapy.
Founder Anna-Marie Goodacre said: “It’s great to have all our projects on one site.
“In recent years, the team has been spread out over a number of sites, but now we are all together and can support each other.
“Last year we had 33,000 visits, but we are expecting that number to go up by 22% in the coming year thanks to the additional facilities and the comfort provided by our refurbished hub.”
The £1.6 million update of a much-loved, but very dated, 1960s community sports pavilion was largely funded by a Your Surrey grant from Surrey County Council with support from other local partners.
The plan was to give a new lease of life to a building which was almost unusable in winter and which Stanwell Events had outgrown, limiting the numbers able to attend the youth club and other activities.
Fluent Architectural Design Services worked with Stanwell Events on the design and then took on a hands-on project coordination role, managing the build process from start to finish.
The design company provided an immersive virtual reality walk-through, allowing residents to explore the proposed space long before construction began.
This tool proved to be an engaging way for the community to connect with the project and to offer valuable input during development.
The work put in by the Fluent Architectural Design Service team ensured that the community hub was completed on time and within budget, opening on schedule in early April.
Fluent Architectural Design Services director. Tom Millin said “We are delighted to have been involved with this inspiring project, which has breathed new life into a once-dated facility.
“Together, we have created a modern, inclusive, and accessible space designed to meet the community’s evolving needs. We believe we have fulfilled the original vision of creating a multifunctional hub that fosters unity, support, and engagement across all age groups and backgrounds.”
