Surrey entrepreneur starts new year with new business plans
Historically, January is the month where divorce lawyers see their inboxes flooded with people reconsidering their marital situation.
But for local entrepreneur Abbi Lee, January is all about celebrating love - as she launches a brand-new wedding personalisation and coordination business designed to help couple enjoy their big day stress-free.
The Surrey businesswoman spent the final hours of 2025 in front of her laptop and calling suppliers to make sure The Finishing Touches was ready for launch on January 1. Run from her home in Woking, Surrey whilst taking care of her four-year-old daughter Isla, the business offers wedding personalisation and coordination services which can deal with everything from managing the big day right through to some of the quirkier and funnier aspects too - even the quirky gifts for the Best Man. Abbi said: “I’ve always enjoyed being an entrepreneur, and working for myself, I started a online clothing reselling business at 19, which I later sold due to work commitments. "Last year my mum, sister and I hosted Christmas stalls at local markets such as Reading, West Byleet and Horley, selling gifts for presents. I also have an online gift company which specialises in personalised gifting. I can make packages to celebrate the birth of a child or make items for children’s birthdays or special mindings for family moments. That’s why the progression to weddings feels like a natural fit.” As well as supporting couples, Abbi hopes The Finishing Touches will create new opportunities for other local businesses such as wedding venues, artists and photographers across Surrey and the surrounding areas. Abbi also wants to make the business’ journey an inspiration to others. She’s created a vlog on TikTok to let others follow her story across 2026. She said: “I know how challenging, mentally, physically and emotionally, it can be to be a mum, a sister, a daughter and a business owner, and I’ve had wobbles in the past. B "But I also know how rewarding it can be to work for yourself and also run a business that will bring joy to others. “ Hopefully sharing my journey, my vlog will encourage others to take the leap or simply help them keep going when things feel toug.h"
