Haslemere nursery wins Bing prize for NSPCC Childhood Day
A children’s nursery in Haslemere has won a selection of books and toys donated by Acamar Films, producers of the award-winning CBeebies-series Bing.
The Bing bundle was donated as part of the NSPCC’s flagship Childhood Day celebrations across the UK and Channel Islands, on Friday, 6 June. Camelsdale Preschool was selected at random in a prize draw from the nursery and early years providers that signed up to take part in the NSPCC Childhood Day Mile.
Nursery Manager, Harriet Hite, said "We are so grateful to the NSPCC and Acamar teams for our wonderful bundle of toys! Our preschool children were absolutely delighted- their faces lit up with joy! These thoughtful gifts have brought even more fun and imagination into our learning environment. Thank you for supporting the happiness and development of our little learners!”
Childhood Day celebrates childhood and raises awareness of the NSPCC’s life-changing services including Childline, Helpline and its Speak Out, Stay Safe programme in schools.

Across the country, schools and nurseries took part by dancing, skipping and jumping to move a mile. NSPCC volunteers and staff also held activities in shopping centres, workplaces and communities across the UK.
This is the fourth year running that Acamar Films, who produce and distribute the pre-school series, have supported the NSPCC’s schools and nurseries Childhood Day Mile.
“We are thrilled to be partnering again with Bing” said Katie Fudge, NSPCC Schools Fundraising Development Manager. “Bing’s dedication to early childhood development makes it the perfect partner for Childhood Day.”
Participating nurseries that signed up to take part in the NSPCC Childhood Day received a Bing-themed activity pack with stickers, activity sheets and everything they need to get pre-schoolers moving their mile for Childhood Day.
"At Acamar Films, we are passionate about celebrating the experiences that shape early childhood.” says Laura Clarke, Executive Director, Global Licensing at Acamar Films. “Childhood Day is a wonderful way to bring communities together while making a meaningful impact on children’s lives across the UK.”
