Malden Manor Primary School is seeking Big Community Makeover funding to breathe new life into its sports hall by revamping the walls and floors.

The school said a new vibrant space would reflect the school’s spirit and values and create a more motivating environment.

Bachar Aleddin, of Malden Manor Primary School, said: "We're thrilled to be a Big Community Makeover finalist.

"Our hall's floors and walls are worn-out and creates a dull environment that lacks the inspiration. With an upgrade, the space could feature vibrant, durable flooring and colourful, uplifting walls that reflect the school’s spirit and values.

“A refreshed, inviting hall would transform not only how students feel about sports but also create a more motivating environment that fosters pride and joy in the entire school community."

Big Community Makeover attracted more than 250 entries, with judges at Leyland whittling it down to a final 10.

They are: Kentish Town Community Centre, Brixton Advice Centre, Nunhead Community Centre, Voluntary Action Islington, Family Based Solutions, Barnes Football Club, Malden Manor Primary School, Back Up, Ella's and User Voice.

Martin Hastings, CEO of Leyland, said: “We are delighted to launch the next stage of our Big Community Makeover competition, which sees 10 very worthy good causes go head-to-head in a battle for public support.

“All of these groups do amazing work in their local community and have big plans if they are successful in securing one our top prizes. I can’t wait to see who comes out on top.

“Leyland now has 35 stores right across London. We are passionate about the city and care about the communities in which we operate.

“Big Community Makeover is a way for us to shine a light on some of the fantastic work that is happening in the capital – and to make a tangible difference to the facilities of three winners.”

The winning groups will be able to select any products from Leyland’s extensive range, including paint from leading brands, tools, timber and plumbing parts.
