The existing Red Troop and the new Blue Troop have over 50 members and are highly active. The Scouts decide what activities they want to do and get involved with the planning. They have enjoyed taking part in archery, paddle sports, pioneering, bushcraft, camping as well as practical hands-on activities including cooking, painting, decorating, basic household electrics, menu planning and budgeting.
The team are looking forward to taking part in ‘Surrey Scout About’ alongside 5000 other Scouts from across the County, and an international trip to Kandersteg campsite in Switzerland.

They have picked up lots of skills during this time including teamwork, navigation, confidence, and resilience. They get outdoors as much as possible too of course, as this helps young people feel better about themselves and the world around them.
Chief Scout Bear Grylls believes that “young people need a friendly and supportive place to discover their talents,” stating, "Now more than ever, our young people need the confidence and encouragement that Scouting gives. That’s where we come in."
In a recent poll 94% of Scouts said they had developed useful skills. 88% said they’ve tried activities they haven’t tried before. Scouts offers over two hundred activities from abseiling and coding to drama and water-zorbing.

Lead Volunteer Mark said ‘’We are an open and friendly bunch. To be a volunteer in Scouts you don’t need incredible outdoor skills or know how to use a map or compass. We can teach you all that. What’s really needed is a smile, patience, and willingness to get stuck in and share some time to help others. Volunteering’s not just about giving back, it goes both ways. It’s fun, gives you skills for the future, and helps you make new friends in your community.’’
