Stagecoach South celebrates another successful year supporting Chiddingfold Bonfire Night celebration
Stagecoach South is pleased to celebrate another successful year of partnering with the Chiddingfold Bonfire Association, providing dedicated shuttle services for the annual Bonfire Night celebration held on Saturday, 2 November 2024.
Since 2018, Stagecoach South’s shuttle service has become an essential part of the Chiddingfold Bonfire festivities, allowing the community to enjoy the event with ease and minimising parking challenges in the village. This year’s service ran smoothly, with frequent shuttles from Witley Station to Chiddingfold village, accommodating the many attendees and reinforcing Stagecoach’s commitment to support the local community.
Stagecoach run a direct bus link to and from the celebrations, with a donation from the bus fare directly supporting the Bonfire each year. Stagecoach is immensely proud to play a part in supporting the show, helping the community celebrate the evening’s bonfire and firework display.
The Chiddingfold Bonfire has a rich history, commemorating the significance of bonfires across the UK since the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. Local lore suggests that Chiddingfold's bonfire tradition dates back to the Coopers Walking Stick Factory, which once provided materials for the bonfire on the village green.

Over the years, the event has grown, with the first organised committee forming in 1930. Today, it features a lively procession, stunning fireworks, and a sense of community that draws residents and visitors alike.
A Stagecoach South spokesperson shared, “It’s always a privilege to be a part of this treasured event. We’re delighted to help make it a success once again and bring the community together for this annual event.”
