Surrey woman pays for holidays to Australia through creative side hustle

As prices of flights are set to become 10% more expensive this year2, according to Ryanair’s CEO, with Becky’s flight costing an eye watering £1,600 alone, she explains how grateful she is to be able to earn through her creative passion.

“I have been able to earn extra income that I have put towards my holidays every year, such as my trip to Australia this summer to see my best friend who moved from the UK 18 months ago to live her dream. It’s been a great trip so far, full of inspiring animals for me to draw for a new range of cards!”

Touching on her previous creative side hustle, she says, “Before I designed cards for thortful I worked in a ceramic studio, as a Graphic Designer and have a degree in Surface Design. I was selling my cards and other products via Etsy when my friend told me that I should try thortful and that I would be able to reach a wider audience and open up an additional revenue stream.

I also enjoy receiving the thortful briefs and prompts as I think they’ve been key to me, finding my greeting card design style and has elevated my brand to be what it is today.”, adds Becky.

Becky’s style is colourful and playful, and her cards are perfect for any occasion, from get well soon cards, to Mother’s Day and birthday cards.

She adds that the flexibility of creating has allowed her to thrive as a freelance creator for the marketplace, earning her money whilst balancing her disability.

“Designing for thortful gave me flexibility to work alongside my full-time job as well as my disabilities - I have fibromyalgia and am partially sighted. It also gives me the ability to create my own schedule and deadlines.”
