Please help me trace the ancestors of this hero - who died in Surrey

Please help me trace the ancestors of this hero.

In 1933 my Grandfather was a merchant navy captain in charge of the SS Antung. It ran aground in fog on an uncharted sand bank near Hainan Island China.

My Grandfather ordered the lifeboats to be lowered and whilst doing so my Grandmother and father(just a baby) were thrown into the sea. (please see newspaper article from the time below).

Without the bravery of Sgt P. Sherevera of the anti-piracy guard, who rescued my father, we would all not be here today. Also without the bravery of Mr H.E.B. Jones, my grandmother and hence my aunt (born 3 years later) would not have been born along with her whole family. Both men were awarded the Stanhope(Issued by the Royal Humane Society every year for heroic rescue) Bronze and Silver medals for bravery respectively.

My father passed away some years ago and I made a promise that I would search out the families for rescuing both my father and grandmother.

Sgt P. Sherevera emigrated to Australia but H.E.B. Jones of The Vicarage Pevensey died 31st December 1966 in Reigate.

If you can help, I should be most appreciative. I feel a duty to find the families and thank them for the bravery of their ancestors and indeed my very existence!

Yours faithfully,

P.McE.Ashby CVO
