Disruption expected 'until the end of the day' after trainline towards Purley blocked

Due to a points failure between Redhill and Purley, the line towards Purley is blocked – Southern Railway has said.

Customers have been warned that trains running through these stations might be delayed, and disruption is expected until the end of the day.

As a result, Thameslink services from Three Bridges towards Purley will be running fast between Salfords and Purley, and so therefore cannot call at:

  • Earlswood
  • Redhill
  • Merstham
  • Coulsdon South

Thameslink services that run run from Redhill towards London will pick up delays of approximately 15 minutes, according to Southern.

In an update posted earlier this morning staff said trains between Reigate and London Victoria will now call at Reigate and Redhill only.

Customers can use their ticket at no extra cost on:

  • TfL Buses
  • 405 between Redhill and Croydon (for Merstham, Coulsdon South, Coulsdon Town, Purley)
