Innovative orthopaedic injection will soon be available at Mount Alvernia Hospital
Guildford’s Mount Alvernia Hospital has launched an innovative new orthopaedic injection service, available to patients across Surrey, the new treatment will help patients who are unable to have knee replacement surgery. Arthrosamid has been described as ‘game-changing’ for patients who suffer with osteoarthritis and is available now at the 47-bed private hospital.
Arthrosamid is a polyacrylamide hydrogel, which can be injected into the knees to help patients suffering with osteoarthritis, a condition that causes joints to become painful and stiff. It is estimated that 8.5 million people in the UK (around 1 in 5 people aged over 45 in England) suffer from Osteoarthritis, the launch of this new treatment, will ensure that those suffering with the condition have access to a non-surgical treatment.

Not every person suffering with osteoarthritis will be eligible for surgery, Arthrosamid represents an innovative solution to managing the condition, relieving symptoms effectively and without the need for an operation.
Mr Oliver Templeton-Ward, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and knee specialist at Mount Alvernia Hospital, said:
